Apologies, first off, for not making the Lughnasa Bardic Bash in Denton. A lot of things cropped up here in town, and by the time I got done with those it would have been 9 pm before I reached Denton. I was looking forward to singing some of my new filks, too...

Walked the few blocks over to Barnes & Noble today to let them handle the air conditioning for the evening. The plan was to do some brief book shopping (hah!) then spend the rest of the time in the cafe trying out the WiFi, now that I know it's free for me (the benefit of having an AT&T DSL connection at home). What I forgot to factor in was the early closure on Sunday. Oops. So I spent the five minutes I had left, after buying books, familiarizing myself with how to log in from there. Another option for a hot afternoon (also another option for when I'm on the road and need to go up periscope for a bit).

So, the haul: )

The original plan was to get the first of the Temeraire books... which turned out to be the one they were out of.

There was another book I was highly amused to find -- but that is for another post...

I saw this in H-E-B (the main local grocery chain) last night and am debating whether it's a sign of the apocalypse.

The novelization for Snakes on a Plane is already out.
