Y'know, I'm getting annoyed at this whole "don't-you-dare-call-them-refugees" thing.
I completely fail to see what's supposed to be pejorative about the word. It accurately describes the condition of those seeking refuge from the destruction of their homes and cities. It boggles me that use of the word is considered racist. To me, it's an absolutely color-blind word.

On a lighter note, during a meeting at work where we were arguing this: "Only among editors can you have an argument over who has the bigger dictionary..."

The whew, it seems, was premature: the Lake Pontchartrain levee just developed a two-block breach. One hospital (Charity?) is already being evacuated by air; Tulane University Medical Center, with around 1,000 patients, is contemplating it.
And, oh, by the way: the guy currently anchoring CNN coverage is an absolute idiot.
UPDATE: At least CNN has an idiot. They're the only network covering this live instead of rerunning something from prime time...
