An astronaut's grief

Prayers and GoodThoughts, please, for Daniel Tani, who was among the crew on the shuttle launch I watched back in October. He's still on board the International Space Station, awaiting his ride home aboard the delayed shuttle Atlantis, and thus will not be able to attend his mother's funeral.

This is the first time a NASA astronaut has had to deal with such a situation. (The story linked to mentions a Soviet cosmonaut that learned only after his return to Earth that his father had died two weeks previously.)
