Holy f---ing... !

At 11 p.m., Wilma was a Category 2 hurricane.

At 1 a.m., Category 4.

As of just now, only six hours after being reported as a Cat 2, it's not merely a Cat 5 but possibly the strongest hurricane ever recorded.

It is likely to weaken before it hits land. Just like Rita and Katrina did...

BTW, this does mean that three of history's five or six strongest known hurricanes have happened in the last two months...

OK, so now I'm a quart and a half low

Woke up with a temperature of 96.9. Not quite sure what this means.

Went to work yesterday and will go today unless something drastic happens in the next hour, but still feeling puny enough that the OVFF trip that was to start tomorrow is probably off. Oh, well...

...for this week goes to Ken Ritter of the Associated Press, reporting on the Society of Professional Journalists honoring New York Times reporter Judith Miller for going to jail rather than reveal her source in the leaking of CIA agent Valerie Plame's identity:

"Miller received a standing ovation from more than half the crowd of about 350 journalists when she was presented with the group's First Amendment Award."
