Rare political post

In the U.S. House today, two nearly unanimous votes:

HR 3673, a package of aid for Hurricane Katrina victims. Voting against -- all Republicans:

Joe Barton, Texas
Jeff Flake, Florida
Virginia Foxx, N.C.
Scott Garrett, N.J.
John Hostettler, Indiana
Steve King, Iowa
Butch Otter, Idaho
Ron Paul, Texas *
James Sensenbrenner, Wisconsin
Tom Tancredo, Colorado
Lynn Westmoreland, Georgia

* Actually should probably have an "L" by his name instead of an "R". Put it this way: My reaction to seeing on C-SPAN that 11 people had voted against the package was: "OK. Ron Paul and what 10 other people...?"

Ten minutes later or so, H Res. 427, a resolution expressing support for Sept. 11 victims and the "Global War on Terrorism" (referred to just like that in the resolution, with the capital letters, four times). Voting against -- all Democrats:

John Conyers, Michigan
Barbara Lee, California
Jim McDermott, Washington
Cynthia McKinney, Georgia
Fortney Pete Stark, California

Discuss.
