I found the correct answer on google, but prefer my own: moldy toast and rotten toast.

And they are...?????!

To me, MT is "machine translation", but I don't know any "RT" in that paradigm.

Given that fp posts via twitter, "my tweet" and "retweet"? These are my guesses based on a v quick eyescan of the ghits for /define:../.

i googled mt rt - either the 1st or 2nd hit explained modified tweet; from the context I derived retweet. MT is apparently an RT that has been clipped to fit the character limit. No offense; just curious: is there an internet or twitter term for people who get others to do their googling for them. I suggest LTO (Lazy Twitter Overlord).

LTO will do, though I will note that there are simply times at bleep in the morning when one's Google fu is weak. Also when one feels an impulse to get all "kids these days and their Internets" on Twitter.

Did you get an answer for this?

Yes, I did, and then lemmozine found it on Google and made fun of me for not doing likewise. Apparently I am now an LTO, or Lazy Twitter Overlord. :-)

EDIT: And I forgot to actually say what the answer was. MT is Modified Tweet (ie, shortened, generally).
